Jazz Gitan consists of Don Price on lead guitar and Giorgi Khokhobashvili on violin, with Zack Sapunor on bass. The music is heavily influenced by the Reinhardt/Grappelli mix in the Hot Club of France, as well as the popular music of contemporary players in this genre such as Bireli LaGrene, John Jorgenson, Robin Nolan, and The Rosenberg Trio.The all-acoustic ensemble Jazz Gitan plays a modern variant of 1930-1940’s Django Reinhardt-inspired gypsy jazz. They carry on the tradition of gypsy swing created by Django together with Stephane Grappelli during their domination of the Paris jazz scene. Composer and lead guitarist Don Price mixes a cascade of original sounds with the Parisian influence. The music includes latin, blues, swing, and original styles combined to create a unique foot tapping and high energy experience.
